WHY Education Here S****..?

People say education is the greatest power man can have in his life. With the right education provided to one, one's eye can be open up so wide that he or she can perceives people, the society,the country and the world in so many ways. With Education, we are able to appreciate why, how things around us works, with education, we can know what's the black and white of life, with education, we can catch a glimpse of how wonderful and magical knowledge can make our life each day more meaningful.
Yes,in this era most of us should have understand how essential education is, it's like your compass in life. But let me ask you one question-Do you think government schools in Malaysia provide us and our young an adequate education? My answer: No! If yes, then why majority of us oner-rely on tuition which is the first place is not necessary if the education system here is sufficient. I'm on of the victim here, having to seek help at tuition centers just so that I can score good marks for me to end up where I am now today. Well, one thing for sure, teachers in my ex-school didn't really contribute much to my success today. Most of them is my own hard work and and here I would like to thank my tuition teachers. Although they charge us with a sum of money, but at least they are doing their job so good that many of my friends are also opting for tuition to save them from failing a subjects in schools.
Here are a part of an article by Dr. Pagalavan Letchumanan, a Consultant Physician & Rheumatologist in Malaysia which i came across recently which really telling the facts and truth about our screw up education system today.
"The current crop of teachers who are joining the government schools are not interested in teaching. They see it as an ‘easy way out’. You go to university and you can’t get a job when you graduate but there’s always the teaching profession which is somewhat rewarding.
The pay is decent, and you work for only half-a-day and get a lot of leave. No one really cares about moulding the leaders of tomorrow. What I’m saying is that you can change the curriculum and the syllabus all you want but if the teachers themselves are not committed, then what is the point?
I’m not saying that every teacher is like this but most of them are. The really good ones are nearing retirement age. They grew up in a different era and had different ideals. They are dedicated towards ensuring excellence in education but their time is up.
The checks and balances in today’s education systems is highly politicised. No one actually believes that government schools can provide an adequate education for our young which is why you see our over-reliance on tuition.
If the education system is successful, the tuition centres would be the exception instead of being the norm. Have we not seen tuition centres proudly proclaiming their achievements when their students get all ‘As’ in the PMR and SPM examinations? Should not that the be the sole domain of the national schools?
As parents, we recognise that a disease has infected our education system. Most of us have no option but to continue with the government school system and hope that with tuition, our children make it to university and a better life thereafter. "
When you do not trust the government to provide your child with the education that he or she deserves, then as parents you must do what you can. Fostering ‘1Malaysia’ is not just about racial politics – it’s about putting trust in the hands of others so that your children are able to reap the same benefits as everybody else.

Now back to me again, if anyone of you realize why education here s****? Well that's because since the mid-eighties when politicians started to get involved education system here has been deteriorating. In the first place education should never be politicized. The sad thing is our nothing much to do-politicians decided to influence the minds of our youngsters for political gain.That is why our education system has become a butt of all the jokes of the world. Now the government came up with a lame thing about High Performance School. Based on what criteria do they select 20 tops government schools to enter their list of High School Performance? The funniest thing to me is the government is allocating annual budget of RM1mil for these schools to do whatever they want or think is necessary....WTF..sound so like bullshit to me!!! They are forking out all the tax-payer's money for unnecessary things...RM1mil is a sum of money man...they can spend it on some other more benefit stuff you know like giving RM1mil to the poor annually?? If you look closely at the High Performance School's List, look at the school's names, out of 20, 10 are boarding schools and you will see that these schools are reserving place for particular one race! Talk about 1Malaysia??!!? Bull man..!! No wonder non-Malays are shifting away from national schools.. Still thinking all the 1Malaysia thing is so great like what our dear Prime Minister consistently promoting??
This post is nothing personal, just my expression on some issues that I don't satisfied because in 3 years time, I will be joining the tax-paying Club, just like everyone who is working, so i really want my hard-earned money to be put in good use, not going down the drain or going into some other's pocket!!! Hrggghhh!!! And because part of my blood flowing in my arteries and veins is can say 25% having the Malay-gene, I'm really sad to see what our leaders of this country(the malay one) is doing, they are just taking care of one race, what about our Chinese, Indians and other races rakyat?? Don't they deserve equal care from you guys too, dear Ministers and whoever is running the country now?? To me, 1Malaysia is not just about living in Malaysia as one with other races, it's not just about sharing and knowing other cultures and religions but as a Malaysian, regardless of what race I' am, want an equal opportunities for my friend of other races too. As long this country still practices the quota system, the true meaning and purpose of 1Malaysia will never be achieved.

Never thought I will get through....

It's been like a month since I last blog. Well, some rough and tough time i have been through for the past few weeks...study week for professional exam was hell. But I get through all the restless night having to know about so muuuccchhhh disease (not to mention that most of them have unknown etiology, so WTF-how we supposed to understand them??? '''=.=).
Was so tensed up facing piles of notes that doesn't make sense (especially Dr.R_S_i_a's pharmacology notes, with so many toxicity that at one point I thought I was a pharmacy students), felt like giving up studying about anatomy, especially the muscle part, i mean do we really need so many muscle's just to bent our hand??? Ya, we do. Well, after knowing each of the muscle's function, I really kind of appreciate God's Creation. So magnificent... Every part of our body, up to the cellular, molecular, genetic level, it was all so well Designed. I never ever regret studying and understanding what I had first thought was useless. How stupid was I. Haha....
Well, I get through exams yesterday. Was so relieved...and now nervous and excited for the result tomorrow. Really hope and pray that all of us will past the exam and step to 3rd year as clinical student together!!! None left behind. After tomorrow, if I safely past, all I had to worry about is my research. Haiz...research, until now, I still don't get the purpose of having to carry out research. I mean research??? Isn't it only involves professors with white hair like Einstein, real doctors that found cure for some cancer, or some Nobel prize winner that trying to change the world with some humanity effort....i mean they are those people that actually know the purpose and goal of dong it?? Isn't it?? So why is a second year medical student who had just went through 1 month or so of lectures and tutorials about epidemiology, statistic study, public health supposed to absorb everything the lecturers from research department expect us to absorb??? I seriously don't think even 50% of us get the idea of having to get though this package in our study as a medical student. Rite my dear course-mates??
Didn't they know we already enough stuff to study...I mean, people children this generation got so much to study that they don't care ho many they have to study just for the fame of being the best student.. Form 5 student taking 16 subjects, aiming straight A's. Now, here we are going through the same thing here. Force to take package that we don't think is useful, I mean if we want to be some famous researcher later in life, we surely will study about what ever statistic and epidemiology la. I'm very very pretty sure those lectures in research department or Jabatan Sain Kesihatan Facukuti perubatan dan sain kesihatan now never learnt about whatever we learned when they were 2o years old. I'm sure they study about it later in their life. So, why can't they leave us alone and let us pour more time and focus on our diseases, drugs, anatomy, physiology that is more important for our life as medical student later and perhaps a useful doctor in 3 years time??
Here's a true story to share, though it's a sad one, we should learn something from this sad happening...especially those doctor-to be. Here goes.
A doctor with a brain won't just discharge a patient with a known cardiac failure for three years due to heart block(coronary atheroma) which later will develop edema peripherally and pulmonary edema rite? I f they really are doctors, they should have prescribe that patient with diuretics rite? Some more that patient was scheduled for by-pass surgery three weeks ago, suddenly decided not to go for it because that patient had developed edema. How irony that they discharge him with no medication and expect the edema would just disappear like that. Those doctors should have done something rite?? But why didn't they do anything??? All they give was Aspirin???!!!! I mean wtf is aspirin suppose to help this patient??? It's just does't make sense to me...perhaps someone who happens to know that some mechanism of action Aspirin to relieve edema, please tell me. I really love to know if there's something I miss when going through Dr.Win Maw or Dr.Aye Aye Toe's lectures. Seriously disappointed on how the doctors handle this case. Just so you know, the patient passed away 4 days after being discharged because his condition got worse and when he was admitted again to another hospital, but it was too late. Death certificate stated that COD was heart failure and kidney failure. Unbelievable!!!!
I swear and really hope i won't be like one of those doctors later in my life if i successfully able to put on the white coat on me. I seriously do. R.I.P to that patient.
