Wonder if only Sarcasm can work against Idiots..?

Saturday, July 31, 2010

2nd week into my clinical posting.. I felt my emotion is shaken.
Shaken by how people around me gradually changing..
People that I once thought to be my friends, colleagues that i usually get along..slowly changed..
Or is it me who had changed?
I once heard that people will change once they enter clinical years..
For some reasons, change to adapt, change to excel others, change to be the top, change to be accepted, change to get what they want.
This is when you see their true color..their true identity, true character.
Their Kiasu-ness slowly submerge..

Anyway, if others change, I intends to remain who I am. Stay the same.
I'm not going to impress others, or care what other people think of me, as long I'm true to myself and my friends.
Thanks for being here for me, thanks for the comfort, thanks for standing up for me, dear friends...
Those who are not significant in my life, I won't care to bother. They are just passers by in my life.

My aim next week, is to be more productive in hospitals.
To put more effort in studies.
And to survive another unpredictable week in Hosp.Kajang!!

Here's a saying that amuse me at the moment..^.^..because idiots only worth your Sarcasm.

Overwhelming Week!!

Sunday, July 25, 2010
This week has been like a roller coaster for me..
Only a week into my 1st posting as clinical students, yet, I'm filled with variable of emotions.
Permed my hair on Saturday, cost me about rm250. Satisfied and happy with my new look.
Some said I look more matured in this hair style. haha.. good, so means that I look more like a clinical student la..hooray!!

Monday,
Was excited as my group was one of the first 2 groups to be posted at Hospital Kajang..
Arrive early in the morning, tail along housemans and MOs doing their routine ward rounds..
Trying so hard to understand at each of the words uttered by them..but was so confused at some point because it was full of medical term that are short-termed by them. haha...
And, guess what? After 2 hour plus, I collapsed!! Drop "dead" on the floor.. I'm not kidding here..
Maybe due to the overwhelming excitement and confusion kut..haha..but, i did ate my breakfast okay..so blame my hypotension state la..(my BP is usually kinda low..last i checked was 95/56)
Anyway, I'm fine. Not to worry..didn't sustained any injury..no any lumps and bumps appeared at my head after i fainted...so should be okay la..
Later in the day, formally introduced ourselves to the invited lecturers..DR.Khoo and DR.Irene.. both very nice and geng specialist..
Manage to clerk one case la..so not bad for my first day..

Tuesday,
Awed at Dr.Khoo's teaching...let's just say, I'm awe at how he speaks and stares at you..haha!!
The fun part was..I learn how to do venipuncture!!
My first patients was an Indian, and DR.Ali- a very nice houseman taught me how to take blood! It was a scary, yet exciting experience.
Scary, because I'm afraid that I might hurt the patients.
Exciting, when you successfully draw the blood out from the patient without any complication!! Yeah for me!!
My other group mates also manage to do so, and at times, it was funny to observe them doing the procedure.
But, when it's your turn..all I can remember is the adrenaline rush in my systems..and the tremors in my hand while holding the syringe..!!
Learn a lot...and was a productive day for me!

Wednesday...nothing much..

Thursday,
Volunteered to do an GI Physical Examination during Dr.Khoo's class..
Well, made a few huge and minor mistakes...so, get "the stare" from Dr.
I can assure you, I will never forget what he had taught and commented during that session.
Was so tension and scary that I think i sweats profusely..
Nvm, learn from mistakes..
Score another one at venipunture again..hehe.. less tremor in my hand le..yeah for me!! ^.^

Friday,
I get to experienced an emergency situation at Hosp.Serdang while observing a central line insertion procedure..
Was really terrified at that time.. I kept praying in my heart, that the po po in front of me will be okay as I looked on at the MO saving her life..
Saw how worried a person can be when their love one are in distress and unstable situation...
But, thank God, the situation got better, and the po po was stable.

So, there goes my first week posting.. it was overwhelming for me.
Really missed home already.
Lots to read, study, revise and pile it up all in the tiny brain of mine..
All I can say is "It's hard to expect the unexpected because what your mind don't know, your eyes can't see"
So, to see, your mind must know.
Hope I can cope better in the coming weeks...
Gambateh!!

Off to bed..nite world!

Here comes Clinical Year...

Wednesday, July 7, 2010
It's the 3rd day in my first week of clinical years.
I'm in Medicine posting...
Today was my 1st time learning with my supervisors on Physical Examination.
After nearly 3 hours in the clinic learning the basics of PE of 3 system, all i can is: Practice, Practice, Practice..and practice. How nice if i can have a human-dummy to practice on anytime i want..haha!!
Seeing the Dr. doing it was easy..but when i try percussing on James..no sound came out..=.=..haha..
F.Y.I, James was the dummy. and he enjoys it.
Have to learn and practice to do PE and hopefully can master as geng as like when you are driving car, don't need to think what gear to change next. As what my Dr. puts it.  I will try and hopefully can achieve that.
Haven't met any patients yet today, hopefully soon...
I found out that I seriously need to touch up my pre-clinical theories, as most of it kinda went down the drain already..^^

Life for these first 3 days was not bad. So far.
Hope to learn more as I progress through this posting in the next 3 months.
Have to bear with the tiredness and leg sore.
I also realize that, its better to fill up your stomach before going for class in clinics. Because you don't know how long the class will last. And brain can't really work well when stomach is grumbling, and when you are hypoglycemic.
Have to pack up some energy bars in my bag from now on, just in case if i had no time for proper meals.

It's still a long way..
So much to learn in such short period..apparently some Dr. said 13 weeks for medicine posting is not enough.
Not much to share here as I'm still at the beginning.
But, it's an interesting beginning though.
And so far I'm enjoying it. ^.^
All the best to others!
